Now the color scheme was slightly adjusted I had to add a few wordpress plugins. This is one thing I really love about WordPress, the huge amount of plugins available and someone has made for nearly every function!
As this was going to be a directory the first plugin to be added was the WP Link Directory which is relatively simple to install:
Create a folder at the same level as wp-content in the domain root and call it what you want your directory to be. Upload the directory files to here. Then upload the wp-admin and wp-content files, in the download, into the respective folders. Then write a blank page in your WP admin panel and set the Post Slug to exactly the same name you gave to the directory folder and save. All that’s left is to activate the plugin and set your categories.
You may need to make a few changes here and there aswell so read more at www.cynetweb.com/wordpress-link-directory
The WP SEO Title Tag is a plugin I use because it allows you to have the Header Title different to the Post Title. This can help you write the catchy post titles and still have an eye on on-page SEO by optimising your page title tags accordingly. It’s a simple plugin to set up, allows mass editing of all titles from one page and is available at www.netconcepts.com/seo-title-tag-plugin
I decided to add the Do Follow Plugin, which is easy to install and removes the rel=’nofollow’ attribute from comments. If someone’s makes a worthwhile comment I’ll give them a link back. Obviously I’ll moderate comments so Spam still gets nowhere. There are numerous Do Follow plugins out there and I chose this one from www.semiologic.com
Well that’ll do for starters, I want to keep things simple around here. If I do add any more plugins to this site I’ll share them with you, “as and when”.

1Good choice on the Do follow but watch out for the spam you might find adding a captcha to your site or even use a plugin system like Re-Captcha for example as well as akismet.

2Thanks for the heads up on a great antispam plugin Tim. I’d read about it on your blog before but have totally overlooked it when setting this blog up. Nice and quick to set up and register for the API key.Time to put it to the test.

3The Link Directory plugin is news to me. I could really see using it. How do you like it? Is there a paypal plugin?

4I like the link directory plugin as it’s fairly easy to setup.
As far as I’m aware there are a few paypal plugins available, but there isn’t paypal integration in the Link Directory plugin. I suppose one could always have the paypal plugin as a sidebar widget and ask the user to submit $? after submitting the link. It would also be possible to code the paypal submit form into the Link Directory if you’re pretty hot on php.
