Time for change.

Over the christmas period I’d became slack with my online activities, with my main line of work taking priority. Affiliate marketing and promoting my handful of basic sites was only really a hobby that I’d got into by accident and was only costing me pennies, but with a lay off of over a month or so and affiliate cheques still coming in I thought it was time for a change.

I have now decided to concentrate more on online activities and only take on word of mouth aerial work I choose to do. This will hopefully leave me more time to write and research content for my new sites, and also try and get them ranking well and earning a full time wage.

So now I’m trying to be a little more serious am I moving in the right direction?

Well I believe so. Here are some of my awstats for 2 sites. I will keep the earnings stats to myself until the end of a full year for any particular site, that way I can Analise things better before making any claims.

Discount Codes Site-

    December: 591 unique visitors and 1643 page views.
    February: 2994 unique visitors and 12,684 page views.

This is a nice increase for me, people are spending longer on the site and the site is returning some nice long tail searches aswell as top 20 for some broader terms. I’m also hoping to add at least 50% to those UV figures again this month.

Digital TV Site-

    December: 4856 unique visitors and 20,280 page views.
    February: 6984 unique visitors and 35,997 page views.

This is also a nice increase but revenues have dropped mainly because I haven’t updated the site with fresh content and this is something I need to get round to as the site now ranks 10 in Google UK for “Digital TV” and 17 in Google Com.

New sites.

As part of my push with making a full time go of “my new hobby” I have purchased a handful of new domain names. These are less than a month old at the time of writing this and are really still awaiting me populating them with content! Both of these are in my cms of choice - WordPress.

New Site 1

    Christmas Ideas - In WordPress will primarily be aimed at propping up or supporting my Discount Codes site together with becoming a broad christmas site. I will hopefully link out to other relevant sites and it will contain everything christmassy including recipes and gift ideas. I haven’t started anything with it yet apart from upload a really nice (I think) theme from Design Disease.

New Site 2

    Isle Of Wight Info - In WordPress is hopefully going to be a nice little site aimed at visitors to the Isle Of Wight, England. I have just started to add content to the site but is nowhere near finished. I am researching further as I write and this should be quite an easy topic to write about as I lived there for 11 years and still have ties and visit regularly. The theme is a premium theme called Revolution Magazine by Brian Gardner and I’m really becoming a fan of his work. More about why Revolution Themes in my next post.

So there we have it. I have my hands tied for a while now. I’ve committed a bit of money towards promoting my sites now, but no more than my previous set of affiliate cheques received. Time to try and grow.
